The Ayrshire Members' Centre has a programme of meetings throughout the year. The programme for October 2017 to March 2018 is given below.

Our talks will be held in the Education Pavilion at Burns Cottage in Alloway. Arrive at 7pm for tea or coffee available at 50p a cup, followed by the talk at 7.30pm, which will last an hour or so.

All visitors welcome.

Thursday 19 October 2017
"Numismatics: coin collecting" a talk by Ronnie Breingan.
Ronnie will tell us about his passion for numismatics the study and collection of currency, including coins, tokens, paper money, and related objects.
Thursday 16 November 2017
"From Ancient Egypt to Glasgow: the story of the sarcophagus of Pabasa", a talk by John Rattenbury.
A look at the history of Egypt around the 26th dynasty, the role of the Great Steward, Pabasa, and how his sarcophagus became a key feature of the Egyptian gallery in Kelvingrove Museum.

Members only quiz night, with cheese and wine just for fun!

Members only video of the restoration of Knock Castle, followed by cheese and wine.
Knock Old Castle has been restored over a 5-year long project into a truly unique fairytale castle.
Thursday 15 February 2018
"Robert Burns and the Suffragettes: bicycles and bombs", a talk by Melvin Gibson.
The background, characters and motivations involved in the attempt by suffragettes to blow up Burns Cottage in 1914.
Thursday 15 March 2018
"The collapse of Douglas, Heron and Company, the Ayr Bank, in 1772".
This banking crisis had catastrophic ramifications for Ayrshire and beyond. It seriously affected the Burns family at Mount Oliphant and Lochlea.
