Burns' Songs as Never Heard Before.

Picture of Jacopo and Kerry. On Thursday 5th October 2023 The Friends of Broughton House and Garden in Kirkcudbright were treated to a special evening of music from the JKL Duo of Jacopo Lazzaretti and Kerry Lynch from Glasgow. Jacopo's virtuoso guitar solo set off the evening in spectacular style. Amazement is the only word to describe the audience's reaction to his mesmerizing command of the instrument, the array of moods he conveyed and the emotions he evoked.

When Kerry joined in playing the flute, we heard the duo play a fascinating rearrangement of songs by Robert Burns composed by a truly international cohort of musicians, all brought together by Jacopo and Kerry during the Covid pandemic. This fresh approach was hugely enjoyed and surely Burns would have had a chuckle at the Brazilian composer's Auld Lang Syne Samba meaning this international take on a classic can now be danced to as well as sung! Their new CD The International Poet, due to be released soon, will provide a wider audience with the opportunity to enjoy this refreshing approach to the immortal songs of our national bard. The album is available as a CD or digital download from www.jklduo.com.

After the performance Jacopo remarked, "We were welcomed with open arms by one of the most vibrant audiences we have ever played for. The whole experience was pure joy".
