Welcome to the webpage for the Glasgow Members' Centre of the National Trust for Scotland. The Centre was formed to stimulate interest in the National Trust for Scotland and to add value to membership of the Trust for those living around Glasgow. Members of the National Trust for Scotland or the National Trust (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) are eligible for membership for a small annual fee whether residents of Glasgow or elsewhere
New Members are always welcome.
We will run a full 2023-2024 winter programme of four talks between October 2023 and March 2024. All talks will be held in Renfield Church Centre, 260 Bath Street, Glasgow, G2 4JP. Details can be found on the Talks Programme page.
Four Day visits, a visit to Mackintosh at the Willow for afternoon tea, and a five-day holiday based in Harrogate have been arranged. Details may be found on the "Excursions Programme"; page.
The Centre normally enjoys a varied programme of indoor and outdoor activities throughout the year. These include :-
- Afternoon lectures on subjects related to Trust business and more general topic including travel related talks.
- Day coach visits to properties and other places of interest, often including properties not generally open to the public.
- Long weekend trips, normally including four nights away, to visit places of interest too far away for day trips.
In addition to the social aspects Members' Centres provide a very valuable contribution to the Trust's work by giving financial and practical support. Some of our Members currently work as guides at the Tenement House, help during Trust events within the Glasgow area, or give talks locally to raise the profile of the Trust. Such work is entirely voluntary and there is no requirement for Members' Centre members to become involved in such areas.
If you live within reach of Glasgow we invite you to join the Centre and share in our programme. The current annual fee is £15 for individual membership or £20 for family membership. The latter includes two adults and all children under 18 living at one address. An application form may be obtained by following this link.
